HTTPS/TLS Protocols

All communications between your browser and the Livetea.ch servers are protected by HTTPS, employing the latest TLS (Transport Layer Security) standards. This means:

1. End-to-end encryption: No intermediary can eavesdrop on messages, file uploads or live-streamed lessons.
2. Up-to-date cipher suites: We regularly update our protocols to defend against emerging vulnerabilities.

Securing Stored Data

While data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS, at rest we also apply strong encryption algorithms to sensitive user information and backups, ensuring that even in the unlikely event of physical media compromise, your data remains unintelligible.

Invitation-Only Sessions

Access to Livetea.ch classrooms is by invitation only. Learners must use a unique link shared by their teacher to join a lesson.

Private Study Workspaces

Every learner’s workspace is isolated by default. During live lessons and collaborative tasks:

1. Teacher visibility only: Instructors can monitor progress, provide feedback and guide learners, without peers viewing one another’s work.
2. Optional peer-review: Should you wish to enable peer collaboration, this can be switched on at the slide level; otherwise, student submissions remain strictly private.

GDPR Compliance

Livetea.ch has been architected in line with the General Data Protection Regulation, including:

1. Data minimisation: We collect only the personal information strictly necessary to deliver the service.
2. Right to erasure & portability: Users may request deletion or export of their data at any time.

Regional Data Storage Options

Different regions have varying legal requirements. With our Online Campus subscription, institutions can:

1. Select preferred data centres: Store student records in the EU, UK, North America, Asia-Pacific or elsewhere.
2. Satisfy local regulations: Ensuring data residency mandates are fully honoured.

2FA Roadmap

Although standard Livetea.ch subscriptions currently rely on strong password policies and session timeouts, we recognise the importance of multi-factor security. We are actively:

1. Evaluating leading authenticator apps and SMS-based solutions.
2. Designing an intuitive 2FA enrolment flow for all users.

Custom 2FA for Online Campus

For organisations on our enterprise-grade Online Campus plan, bespoke two-factor integrations, SAML-based single sign-on or hardware tokens, can already be configured to meet institutional policies.

Continuous Synchronisation

Every change, be it a document edit, quiz submission or whiteboard annotation, is synchronised in real time across multiple, geographically dispersed data centres. This live replication:

1. Prevents data loss from sudden hardware failures.
2. Ensures low-latency access for users worldwide.

Scheduled Snapshots

In addition to streaming replication, we take point-in-time snapshots of all databases and file stores at regular intervals. These backups:

1. Provide a safety net against software bugs or accidental deletions.
2. Are themselves encrypted and stored separately for maximum resilience.

Distributed Infrastructure

Our platform runs on a mesh of data centres across six continents. Should one centre experience an outage, due to natural disaster, network partition or maintenance, the rest of the network:

1. Instantly absorbs the affected workloads.
2. Maintains seamless service continuity for educators and learners.
